Emily's Weekly Update 10-3-15

posted Oct 5, 2015, 12:05 PM by Cynthia Friedman

We are going to Mt. Pisgah on Monday.  Please make sure that your child has WALKING SHOES and LAYERED CLOTHING including a RAINCOAT.  In addition to a sack lunch, kids should bring a POCKET SNACK like a granola bar or other “pocketable” item.  We will have lots of fun learning about fall ecology in our temperate forest biome.

Homework Begins - Check Those Backpacks!

Homework was sent home Friday and is due on October 29.  I’ve met with all the children this week to preview the homework and talk about the math concepts involved.  We’ve demoed how to solve problems and brainstormed ways to creatively present our work at the Homework Gallery.  To help you plan a homework schedule with your child, I’ve stapled an October calendar page to your packet.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions about the project.  Families are welcome to view the finished products at our Homework Gallery at 9:00 am on October 29.

Woodworking Volunteer Needed

Would you be able to grant some wishes off our wish list?  We need a few simple shelves with stands that could fit onto our existing  shelving.  We would also like to have a tabletop stand that could turn our tables into “standing desks” for kids who like to think on their feet.  We can talk through design and dimensions.

Sewing Volunteer Needed

We would like two small curtains made for our classroom.  Fabric is provided.

Yee Haw!  Horse Barn Field Trip October 15

Would you like to chaperone a trip to the horse barn?  We are arranging a trip for the morning of Thursday, October 15; a permission slip will be sent home next week.  Special thanks to Katie Ebbage, professional riding instructor and Caleb’s mom, for hosting this trip.
