Goodbye, Jing!
Friday was an emotional day for us in the Lion Class, as we said goodbye to our beloved intern Jing.  Many children are looking forward to writing letters to her in China, and others have requested her email address.  Here it is:  sunnyangjing@sina.com. We are looking forward to hosting another intern from China beginning in February, but of course Jing was one of a kind!

Science Fair Homework
We had the first visit from our UO grad students and science mentors last Tuesday, and we’ll have another visit this week.  Take a look at the packet your child brought home on Friday (or just check out the attachment to this email).  We are asking that you help your child brainstorm some interests and scientific questions.  This Tuesday, we’ll narrow things down and learn more about which questions are safe, specific and testable enough for a science project.

Puppet Show this Friday, $1 Donation Requested
The Dragon Puppet Theater is bringing its show, The Moon Goddess to Ridgeline this Friday.  This is a popular Chinese legend that tells how two immortals lost the favor of the Celestial Emperor and were banished to the moon.  The volunteer puppeteers ask for a $1 donation per child to defray expenses.  Additional donations will be put towards our scholarship fund, which helps every child enjoy our field trips and cultural experiences.
