We Got a Gig!
Every morning we start our school day with a song, and the children's voices are too lovely to keep to ourselves. Yesterday we sang for the kindergarten, and today we sang for our neighbors at Emerald Valley Assisted Living. Our performance was, in the words of the kids, “super good.” Special thanks to music teacher Jennifer Searle, who helped us prepare. Because of her guidance, all the kids performed beautifully, with arms like wet ropes and with their heads tied to the ceiling. Go ahead and ask your child to show you what that looks like!

Spring Flowers
We are beginning to study pollination and the parts of the flower. As part of our work, many children will be dissecting flowers to see their parts. Flower donations are needed! The best types for this work are tulips, lilies, crocus, snowdrops, and other simple spring flowers, although other varieties can also be useful for comparison.

Fantastic Mr. Fox
An ensemble of students from the upper elementary performed Fantastic Mr. Fox for us on Tuesday. The children really enjoyed the performance and used it as a springboard for writing some theater reviews. The experience has really helped kids think about the elements of story - character, setting, and conflict - and inspired some rave reviews.
