Conferences/No School Thursday and Friday

We are looking forward to meeting with you and your child next week. The sign up sheet is in the main hallway. You can also sign up by calling the office.

Halloween Policy
We ask that kids leave Halloween costumes and candy at home. Thank you!

Homework Reminders
By popular demand, we are giving extra reminders to kids to check their backpacks and turn in homework folders. On Monday, you can do the same when your kids get home! Homework goes home each Monday afternoon and is due on Friday. Please note that kids who turn in their homework late will also be somewhat delayed in getting their new homework.

Pumpkin Delivery
On Thursday afternoon the class brought carved pumpkins to our neighbors at Emerald Valley Assisted Living. The kids shared some descriptions that they had written about the pumpkins and we all had a great time matching the writing to the pumpkin it described. What a fun way to demonstrate the importance of specific details in descriptive writing! We are so thankful to the kind residents who gave us an audience for our work. Stay tuned next week for some student-authored reports on our visit.

Earthquake Safety
Our class has been practicing earthquake safety, and we participated in the statewide Oregon Shakeout earthquake drill. Did you know that the rules for staying safe during earthquakes have changed? Ask your child to show you what to do, or check out

Eugene Symphony Nov. 13
Mark your calendars! We will be traveling to the Hult Center on an LTD bus on Tuesday, November 13 to see a performance by the Eugene Symphony. We have space for 4 or 5 chaperones who can join us for the trip, from about 11:30 to 2:15 that day. Let us know if you'd be interested. A reminder: chaperones must be cleared with the office and have a green volunteer name tag to come along. We'll be handing out permission slips with more information at conferences.
