Peace Education
Can you think of seven different ways to share classroom materials? Could you demonstrate how to give a respectful reminder to a student who is too loud? Can you stand in front of 28 of your peers, command their attention, and give an announcement? Montessori children can! We work on these skills every day. Lately we've been discussing respect, and how our words and behavior can show respect towards each other.

Speaking of ways to show respect, Thursday's Hat Day gave us a great chance to think about the ways ettiquette has changed over the years. We talked about how adults used to wear hats all the time, and how tipping a hat was a way to show respect. We also thought back to Colonial times, and the etiquette of curtseys and bows. Starr was the lucky volunteer who got to see our hat tipping (with some bows and curtseys thrown in), but we definitely had the rest of our volunteers in mind as well!
