Dear Room 10 Families,

Classroom happenings - These last couple weeks have been going great. Students are hard at work. Some are working on math lesson follow-ups and some are working on their imaginary worlds. Other students are working on research projects connected to our early civilizations curriculum. Some families have seen your student working on imaginary world work happening at home. Students are working to create their own worlds. They are creating the creatures that inhabit the world as well as what the world looks like. They have been tasked with writing their world’s story.

Work Journals - Students are using work journals this year instead of work plans to track what they are working on daily. Students are developing a format that works with them with the guidance of myself and Mary Kate. We have given them a model of writing down what they have planned to do that day with as much detail as possible so that they will be able to look back and see what they have worked on, completed, and what they may still need to complete.

These are examples of ways that students are using their work journals. One student is tracking daily work and the other student is tracking weekly work. This system is designed to adapt to what is best for each student.

Testing - Students are almost done with benchmark testing in our class. We are doing one last push to finish up.

PE - Please make sure that your student comes to school in appropriate footwear to participate in PE. If your student insists to wear shoes that won’t work, please have them bring shoes to change into.

One mission, One Vision, One School, One Community

Attendance - The year is just beginning and it is a great time to build great habits!  Being in school, on time, every day is important. Good attendance is strongly linked to academic, social, and emotional success.

We believe that students and families that feel they are included in the school community are more likely to show up consistently

We believe that good attendance will allow your child to fully contribute to and fully benefit from the classroom community.

We believe good attendance will not only build strong academics, but also build strong socially and emotionally capable humans.

Thank you for learning and growing with us!
