This week class jobs were chosen, complete with a news anchor for our very own Morning Newscast. The idea is to have a group of students work with the news anchor to read appropriate stories from the local Register Guard, take notes, and then present the news to the rest of the class during a weekly Morning Newscast. I am looking forward to working with this team of students as they begin this process.
In addition, Cyrus’ father brought in a bookshelf that he custom made for the classroom library giving the class librarians a place to start organizing our books. To help with building the library, consider ordering from this month’s Scholastic book order.
Based on parent feedback during the Parent Meeting on Tuesday, I will begin asking each child to get your signature on his or her work plan. This is a simple step towards ensuring parents have the opportunity to see what was accomplished each week. A small group of students are also designing a kid-friendly work plan that may be ready for a trial run in a few weeks. In the meantime, the class will continue to use the temporary one that I generated.
Next week, look forward to your son or daughter talking about beginning reading group and math lessons, along with discussions about the First Great Lesson.
