Room 10’s Weekly Update for September 6-15

Hello Returning and New Families of Room 10!

Successful Start to the School Year

Having a strong group of 5th and 6th Graders to perpetuate such a supportive classroom culture was so evident this week.  This week we played games, shared stories, learned about the 3 Islands Project, and started the year-long process of working and playing together.

Work Plans

There are two main reasons that we ask students to use a work plan here in Room 10.  First, it provides students with a convenient way of tracking their own progress on the work they are asked to engage with.  Second, it gives you an opportunity to ask specific questions about those works that your child has completed, are still working on, or have yet to begin.  Please take the time to go over the work plan at the end of each week and feel free to contact me if you have any questions that your child cannot clarify.

Whole Class Parent Meeting - Monday, September 11, 6:00 pm

This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for us to share ideas about curriculum, routines, and procedures that make our classroom work so well. This parent meeting also serves to help new families build meaningful connections with returning families. Plus, this year you will have the chance to get to know the classroom’s new and improved layout.

Volunteers

This year a hardy crew of volunteers helped Mary Kate and me prepare for the first day of school. The list below is long and varied. Thank you all for contributing!
