This week we had a visit from the strings teacher, Erin Carey, to explain the classes that she is offering after school on Wednesdays. She played a few songs and answered questions about her program. If you want to learn more, please contact Erin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We also introduced the first steps in setting up book discussion groups. Students know this process as “Shared Inquiry” and have been learning the process for selecting vocabulary words, asking specific types of questions, and completing follow-up assignments. Shared Inquiry is a distinctive kind of Socratic discussion that focuses on significant questions raised by the text. The process follows a few simple guidelines designed to make a discussion more rewarding by keeping the group’s attention focused firmly on the text and its interpretation. Please encourage your son or daughter to try to identify the guidelines for you, as this will definitely help them better understand the process.
All School Meeting
Ridgeline’s Board of Directors is hosting an All School Meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 6:30 to 7:30 in the gym. It will be a chance to learn about Montessori education and to hear about the important work of the Capital Campaign. There will also be a potluck cookie bar, so please feel free to bring something to share.
