Greetings from Room 10!
First of all, thank you to those that were able to attend the parent meeting on Monday. The turnout was amazing and the comments about what your child is communicating to you about our class were impressive.
Based on your feedback at the meeting, I have begun putting together a Google Document that will list the various projects that could use parent help completing (i.e. putting together folders, moving furniture, etc). By the end of this weekend, I will email you the link to this document. Feel free to click on the link to explore what volunteer needs our classroom has, sign up, and make it happen.
3 Islands Project
The 3 Islands Project has officially moved into character creation mode this week. Each student will be creating a small 4" x 1.5" character that will be named by mixing parts of two actual names and their meanings. For example, a student might choose Alex, which means protector and Gratia, which means grace, and create "Gratalex" that translates to Graceful Protector. In addition to creating characters, groups of students are in the process of painting paper that will be used to create the wall friezes of each island.
Each Friday work plans are sent home for you to review with your child, sign, and then return to me on Monday. When you pick up your son or daughter each Friday, it would be great for you to take a look at his or her work plan before leaving for the weekend. Any work that is completed will have a teacher's initials. Any work that is incomplete will have a highlighted "Home" written next to it. Please check to see that your child has all of the necessary materials needed to successfully finish each of these incomplete works over the weekend.
With rain in the forecast, it is very helpful for your child to have a pair of indoor shoes here at school. This helps us keep the carpets clean enough to hold lessons on or gather for class meetings on.
As always, thank you so much for all you do for Ridgeline.
