First, I would like to thank all of the families that came in during the summer to visit with me. Being able to sit down and chat before the year started made all of the difference. Thank you! And it will be great seeing all of the families together for the Class Meeting on Tuesday, September 17 at 6:30.
For 3½ days now, students have been busy establishing a brand new classroom culture. The class already made some community agreements about how to attend group meetings. Committees of students are also working to make recommendations about how to use the loft, hammock, math, and piano areas of the classroom. An additional committee is also researching what types of class jobs are most important to have this year.
A good amount of individual work has also been completed this week. Each student has already written an I Am Poem, created a very detailed “Mini-Me” attendance card, and wrote a letter that was sealed, stamped, and “mailed” (only to returned on the last day of school). The year is definitely off to a great start!
In addition to Tuesday’s Class Meeting, next week brings Picture Day (Wednesday), the start of PE Classes (Mondays and Wednesdays), and the beginning of the 4J district assessments. It will be a full and action packed week so please help your child get plenty of rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and pack a nutritious lunch.
It is great being at Ridgeline!
