Clint's Weekly Update 12-4-15

posted Dec 4, 2015, 9:26 AM by Cynthia Friedman

Dear Families,

I am absolutely amazed at the quality calendars that are being created!  There are so many good writers and artists in the class helping each other formalize inviting introductions, crafty conclusions, and artistic masterpieces.  My favorite has been reading the “About the Author” sections, each written from the third person point of view.

Here are the six calendars that have completed covers already uploaded to Google Documents:

As of today, only two students have submitted their calendars for final editing.

To ensure that all calendars are ready to be printed and bound, please ask your child if they need any help finishing theirs at home.

If you would still like to order additional copies* of your child’s 2016 Calendar, you can print a new order form by following this link: 2016 Calendar Print Order Form

*The first bound copy is free of charge.

New Work Plan Format

This weekend you will see an improved work plan come home.  The changes are intended to give you more information about exactly what your child is working on at school.  For example, the SRA work for this week will now include the exact level and title of the SRA your son or daughter completed.  This enhancement allows you to ask specific questions that will help jog the memory sometimes forgetful 4th, 5th, or 6th Year child. Please only sign the work plan after you have discussed the work plan with your child.  Doing this serves the extremely important function of reinforcing what was learned during the week.  If your son or daughter, is not interested in discussing his or her works with you, feel free to not sign the work plan.

Card/Craft Making!

Interested students are invited to create winter holiday cards and small crafts, like origami and snowflakes, to be shared with Meals on Wheels recipients and Emerald Valley residents. Please support your child in this community service effort to help spread the joy of the season. Student council representatives will collect cards and crafts prior to student council on December 11.

Joy of Sharing – Food Drive

Our annual food drive, the Joy of Sharing, begins December 14 and runs through December 18. Please bring non-perishable donations to school during this week. In addition to food, other items such as toilet paper and personal hygiene items are welcome.  With the donated items, we will create and distribute food baskets to Ridgeline families in need, to help them over winter break.

Holiday Tree Sale

December 5-6 and 12-13
