When I was a freshman at Linfield College I signed up for a bicycle safety session with one of my professors. It turned out to be a great experience that really got me hooked on mountain biking. I just wish I had an experience like this when I was your son or daughter’s age. The good news is that your son or daughter doesn't have to wait as long as I did to experience what it takes to ride safely because this month he or she will have bike safety, right here at Ridgeline. Starting October 14, Ridgeline is offering bike safety courses taught by the amazing Salmon. He will have classes Mondays through Thursdays, from 1:05 until 2:00, until October 29. In preparation for this fantastic opportunity, it would be great if each child brought their own bike and helmet. If not, bikes will be provided. Also, please make sure that appropriate rain gear comes to school on these days. Liability release forms will be sent home soon.
This week Mary Kate and I introduced the students to editing and computation practice cards. These are great opportunities for your child to review standard English writing conventions and computation facts.
As a reminder, to minimize interruptions during your child’s work period, it would be helpful to have after school plans organized ahead of time. Work periods, as you know, are a major part of the Montessori Approach and when properly used by your child they are very fulfilling. (When properly used, work periods also mean no homework will be assigned over weekends.)
Thanks for all of the support and involvement.
