General Announcements –

·         The Bike and Safety Class begins next week and I only have nine parent-signed permission slips turned in.  To participate students are required to have a permission slip.

·         Before Creative Expressions* begins on October 25, we need parents, grandparents, or other community members to offer classes.  (*Creative Expressions is really an amazing elective program that offers unique and engaging special classes for small groups of students.)

·         Curriculum Sharing Night is set for October 17 from 3:15-4:15pm and again from 6:00-7:00pm.  This is an opportunity for you to see our Upper Elementary routine from your son or daughter’s point of view.

Classroom Happenings –

This week, the students took another step forward in their exploration of the universe, from the Big Bang to right before life began on Earth.  A number of interesting research topics were selected just in time for us to watch a presentation by Emily’s class.

Writer’s Workshop kicked into full swing this week with a lesson and follow-up about revision.  Many students felt that their 2nd or 3rd revision of their introduction was stronger than their first…an indication of success!

Please remember to look over and sign the weekly work plans that go home on Friday (or Thursday during a short week).  They are due back on Monday.
