YOU’RE INVITED!! OPEN HOUSE AT THE FARM: Shannon and Chris Overbaugh (Alden’s parents) invite you to join them for ‘Farm Day’ at Wintergreen Farm. There will be a potluck lunch, hay rides to see the fields and animals, children’s activities, and a live bluegrass band. This free event is scheduled for June 8 from 12-4 pm.

To get to the farm head out Hwy 126 West, towards Veneta.  Continue about 5 more miles then make a right onto Poodle Creek Rd. The farm is about 2 miles up Poodle creek Rd on the left hand side. Look for our sign. If anyone has questions, call the farm at 541-935-1920 or email folks@wintergreenfarm.

Host Families Needed – Our Teacher-interns (Rui, Liqun, Mali) will return to China soon. Students and teachers alike have enjoyed the language and culture lessons these young women have shared. The University of Oregon program, Oregon International Internship Program (OIIP), provides an opportunity for teacher interns from Asia to come to America and work in Eugene elementary school classrooms. At no cost to schools, interns spend four days a week in classrooms, attend classes at the U of O, and live in area homes. The program is looking for homestay hosts for student interns from September 2013 thru January 2014. The attached flier contains more information. Let us know if you are interested.

Azusa, Iris and I would like to thank you for your support and trust this school year. It’s a gift to be a part of your children’s growth and learning. We wish you a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing you in September.

Host an OIIP student from China or Taiwan during the 2013-2014 Academic Year

Session I: September 2013 – January 2014

 Session II: February 2014 – June 2014

OIIP brings student teachers from Asia to work in area elementary school classrooms and learn from master teachers.  While here, interns live in area homes, preferably in the school communities in which they work.

Homestay “families” can range from households with one adult to large extended families.  We have found that participation in the program has been transformational not only for schools, teachers, and students, but for our home-stay families and interns who enjoy the opportunity to learn more about one another’s cultures and to build enduring international friendships.

Interns require safe living situations with:

·      A private bedroom & healthy food

·      Access to public transportation

·      Environments promising conversation, friendship, and inclusiveness

Homestay families will receive a $600 stipend per month per student for room and board and can host one or two students for either or both sessions.
