Host Families Needed – Our Teacher-interns (Ying Cong, Yuan Qin, Yan) will return to China at the end of the month. The children and teachers have benefited from the Chinese language and culture lessons presented. We've also enjoyed getting to know these adventurous young women.

The University program Oregon International Internship Program (OIIP), provides an opportunity for teacher interns from China, Taiwan and Japan to come to America and help in Eugene elementary school classrooms where they work with master teachers. At no cost to schools, interns work in classrooms four days a week, attend classes at the U of O, and live in area homes. The program is looking for homestay hosts for student interns from February 15 – June 20, 2013. Let us know if you are interested.

SHARING THEME: (week of 5/27) A Favorite Book, (week of 6/3) Your Choice

VOLUNTEERS FOR NEXT YEAR: I’m searching for a volunteer willing to come in once or twice a week to teach Spanish to our students. We have many classroom materials to complement a Spanish program. If you are interested or have questions about either of these opportunities, please let me know.

HOMEWORK: This year’s ‘Homework Program’ has ended. Please return all homework packets. Encourage your student to practice reading, writing and math throughout the summer. If you would like suggestions for materials or topics, let me know.

This year’s homework participation has been close to 100%. Thanks so much for your support!

YOU’RE INVITED!! OPEN HOUSE AT THE FARM: Shannon and Chris Overbaugh (Alden’s parents) invite you to join them for ‘Farm Day’ at Wintergreen Farm. There will be a potluck lunch, hay rides to see the fields and animals, children’s activities, and a live bluegrass band. This free event is scheduled for June 8 from 12-4 pm.

To get to the farm head out Hwy 126 West, towards Veneta. Continue about 5 more miles then make a right onto Poodle Creek Rd. The farm is about 2 miles up Poodle creek Rd on the left hand side. Look for our sign. If anyone has questions, call the farm at
541-935-1920 or email folks@wintergreenfarm.
