Spring Break: We enjoyed hearing about everyone’s adventures during Spring break. I was fortunate to be able to attend the American Montessori Society’s (AMS) annual conference in Dallas, Texas. I joined 2,800 other Montessorians attending four days of workshops, keynote presentations and various meetings and celebrations. What a professionally exhilarating experience!
PUPPET SHOW: The Jordan Schnitzer Museum Puppet Theater will present a special Japanese style puppet show for our students on April 22 at 1:00 pm. A donation of $1.00 per student is requested. Please send one dollar to school with your student by Monday, April 21. If the cost presents a hardship and you would like scholarship information, please call the office (541-681-9662)
OUR TEACHER-INTERN FROM CHINA: Shuting has started teaching small group Chinese cultural lessons. This week the children enjoyed her presentation about Chinese theater and mask-making.

Next Thursday, 4/10, the music education director will visit our classroom and teach the song; ‘This Land is My Land’. She will also leave a CD with which to practice. Students that participate will receive two free passes to attend a performance and to join the choir on stage when their song is sung! The Hult Center performance is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, at 11:00am. More information to follow…
VOLCANOES: Following our study of the ‘Layers of the Earth’, students are learning about volcanoes. Today we discussed the parts of a volcano. Older children are researching famous volcanoes. If you have books or materials that support our learning, please consider sharing.
