*LIBRARY FIELD TRIP: Thursday, April 28, the class will visit the Eugene Public Library. We’ll ride LTD, leaving at 9:25am, and enjoy a story and tour. We’ll return to school at 11:50, just in time for lunch! Since we’ll have snack en route, students should have a portable ‘pocket snack’ to take along such as a granola bar, nuts, cheese stick or piece of fruit. Be sure we have your child’s completed permission form (attached).

*PROJECT FAIR: Ridgeline’s annual Project Fair is just days away! Please bring projects to school the morning of Tuesday, April 26. Teachers and students will arrange the displays so families and friends can enjoy them after school from 3:15-4:15 or from 6:00-7:00pm. We still have large cardboard display boards available for $3. Stop by the office if you would like one.

The Smarter Balanced test for grades 3-8 has a Practice Site where students (and parents) can become familiar with the types of questions and tools available. If you have Internet at home, you and your student can try some practice tests.

I recommend both the Math and ELA Grades 3-5 Training Test since they are very short. These tests will familiarize students with computer tools. For a sample of the writing expectations, try out the English Language Arts Performance Task (ELA-PT). Let me know if you have questions. Website:

READ-A-THON FUNDRAISER: Help your child record reading challenges on the Read-a-thon pledge sheet. Pledged funds are due on Tuesday, May 10. Questions? Call Ridgeline 541-681-9662

*CHESS SETS AVAILABLE: Our Chess Club leader, Brian Schartz, has chess sets available for sale at a great price since he gets free shipping and a discount for bulk purchases. If you would like to buy a Chess set for home ($13.45 for the pieces, roll up board and carrying bag), please contact Brian at:

*WATER REFILL? As weather gets warmer, students drink more water. Can you help refill the five-gallon water dispenser bottles from our classroom? We leave the empties just outside our door in the lobby. Questions? Email, write a note or call the office 541.681.9662

Field Trip to the Eugene Library

On Thursday, April 28, Cheri’s students plan to visit the Eugene Public Library. We will leave school at 9:25 and ride the LTD bus to the downtown station. The library is right across the street. After our tour and story we’ll have some time to browse the children’s library before boarding our return bus. We plan to return by 11:50, just in time for lunch and recess. Please send an easy to eat ‘pocket snack’. (bar, cheese stick, fruit, etc.) There is no charge for this field trip. We are in need of adult supervisors. Please let me know if you’d like to join us.

Complete and return the permission form by Friday, April 22.
