Cheri's Weekly Update 3-24-12

posted Apr 4, 2012, 10:57 AM by Cynthia Friedman
Pajama Day: Tomorrow, Friday, March 23, is Pajama Day! Children are invited to wear pajamas, slippers, and robes and bring a small, lap-sized, stuffed animal to school. We plan to read and write stories, finish Rainforest research and dioramas and enjoy a special viewing of the Velveteen Rabbit. We’ll have popcorn during the movie. Please be sure your child’s pajamas are warm enough and appropriate for school. Questions? E-mail cspies@ridgeline.org

Sharing theme: Week of April 3: Something that weighs less than 10 pounds

Week of April 10: Something made of wood

Dress in layers: Our weather is unpredictable. Please encourage your student to wear a several layers to stay comfortable during the day. Sometimes a sweater/sweatshirt is needed in the classroom or to stay warm on the way to music or PE. For recess, I recommend a jacket, scarf and sometimes gloves and boots.

Parent Survey: Please complete Ridgeline’s annual parent survey. We appreciate your feedback. Just click on this link to start: PARENT SURVEY

If you have questions, please contact the Ridgeline office (541) 681-9662

Internet use policy in the classroom: Students in my classroom use computers for word processing (type an assignment or project) and for the reading program ‘Read Naturally’. If information or a picture is needed about a research topic, an adult may search Google with the child. Our Google safe-search filter is set to Strict. Children do not access the Internet without an adult. If you have questions or concerns, please e-mail, send a note or stop by the classroom for a brief chat or to make an appointment for a meeting.

Project Fair: Every year Ridgeline holds a Project Fair. Students research a topic of their choice then create a visual display to share the information with others. Spring Break is an excellent time to get started with a project, since this year’s Project Fair is scheduled for Thursday, April 19th. Families are invited to come and enjoy the project displays right after school from 3:00-4:00 or later in the evening from 6:00-7:00. If you need more information or project ideas, let me know.

State Testing OAKS: State testing for 3rd graders begins the 2nd week of April. Please be sure your student has a healthy breakfast and is well rested. Questions? Email, call or send note to schedule a meeting.
