Sharing theme: Week of March 19- A picture of a baby

Week of April 3: Something that weighs less than 10 pounds

Scholastic Book Orders: Please return Scholastic book orders by this Friday, Mar. 16. Write your student’s name on the order form(s), cut out the order form(s) and send in with a check made out to Scholastic.

Dress in layers: Our weather is unpredictable. Please encourage your student to wear a several layers to keep them comfortable during the day. Sometimes a sweater/sweatshirt is needed in the classroom or to stay warm on the way to music or PE. For recess, I recommend a jacket, scarf and sometimes gloves and boots.

Arthropods: The invertebrate phylum we are studying includes animals with an exoskeleton rather than a backbone. Arthropods also have jointed bodies and have 6 or 8 legs…with a few exceptions. Many students have completed and presented research about specific arthropods.

Parent Survey: Please complete Ridgeline’s annual parent survey. We appreciate your feedback. Just click on this link to start: PARENT SURVEY

Internet use policy in the classroom: Students in my classroom use computers for word processing (type an assignment or project) and for the reading program “Read Naturally”. If information or a picture is needed about a research topic, an adult may search “Google” with the child. Our computers’ Google safe-search filter is set to Strict. Children do not access the internet without an adult. If you have questions or concerns, please e-mail, send a note or stop by the classroom for a brief chat or to make an appointment for a meeting.

Project Fair: Every year Ridgeline holds a Project Fair. Students research a topic of their choice then create a visual display to share the information with others. Spring Break is an excellent time to get started with a project, since this year’s Project Fair is scheduled for Thursday, April 19th. Families are invited to come and enjoy the project displays right after school from 3:00-4:00 or later in the evening from 6:00-7:00. If you need more information or project ideas, let me know.

State Testing OAKS: State testing for 3rd graders begins the 2nd week of April. Please be sure your student has a healthy breakfast and is well rested. Questions? Email, call or send note to schedule a meeting.
