HULT CENTER CONCERT: We so enjoyed this performance, sponsored by the Eugene Symphony Guild. The children learned about the sections and instruments of the Orchestra and about the composer, Gustav Holst, and his great work, The Planets. The elements of music: rhythm, timbre, melody and harmony were introduced and demonstrated by symphony orchestra musicians. Many thanks to our adult supervisors who helped guide and protect the students. We couldn’t have done it without you!
SCHOLASTIC BOOKS: Book Order forms were sent home this week. If you would like to order, please return the form with a check to Scholastic by Tuesday, Feb. 19.
HOMEWORK PACKETS: Please return homework packets this Friday.
SHARING THEME: (week of 2/18) Something with a 3-syllable name, (week of 2/25) A recipe, song or poem
DANCE SUNDAY AT THE ASIAN CELEBRATION: Our class will dance at the Eugene Asian Celebration, held at the Eugene Fairgrounds Pavilion. We’ll perform on Sunday, Feb. 17, at 4:15. This event admits children for free and every family that participates will receive one free adult admission. You are welcome to come early in the day on Sunday to enjoy the many wonderful events. Clothing: Girls are asked to wear bright colors and boys wear jeans and a white t-shirt. (Boys will also wear a sash and headband provided by Ridgeline.) If you have questions or if your child needs a ride, 541-681-9662 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org Visit http://www.asiancelebration.org for event schedule.
***Please bring your student to the back door (East door) of the large Pavilion Building by 3:45. At the door, let them know you are with the Eugene Bhangra Group.
STUDENT CRAFT FAIR AT THE DIRECT DONATION KICK-OFF: In conjunction with the DDD Kick-off Spaghetti dinner there will be a student craft fair. Students may sign up in the office to sell handmade items (no food) from 5-7pm, Friday, Feb. 22, during the Spaghetti dinner DDD kick-off event. Because all available tables will be used for dinner seating, students will need to bring their own table. Kinder and Lower-El students will need to have a parent present at their table throughout the evening. All proceeds from craft sales go to the seller.
Next week we welcome three new teacher interns from China. They will be working in the kindergarten and in our classroom. Watch for more information.
Thanks for sharing your enthusiastic children! Cheri and Azusa
