Pumpkin patch: Our Pumpkin Patch trip was a bit soggy but lots of fun! Thanks to the family members that transported us and shared our October outing.
Sharing theme (week of 10/29): A Kitchen tool, (week of 11/05): A favorite poem or recipe
Painters needed: The classroom needs brightening up and I’m looking for volunteers willing to spend some time painting the south wall a beautiful shade of soft marigold. Afterwards I hope to hang a cheerful valance above each window. If you can help, let me know.
Small shoeboxes: We still need 12 small shoeboxes for dioramas.
International Children’s Day: Wednesday, Oct. 31, students in Cheri’s Class are invited to celebrate International Children’s Day by dressing in traditional clothing from another country or culture. The costumes can be anything from a ‘French beret’ or ‘Mexican sombrero’ to something more elaborate. As well as making flags and maps, each child will have an opportunity to research and share information about their country or culture. Afterwards we’ll snack on some international foods in the classroom. The snacks need to be commercially prepared & packaged or prepared at school. If you can help with snack donations or classroom set up, let us know.
Family Conferences are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, (Nov. 1-2). Please sign up for a time in the office. If times listed are not convenient and you’d like to meet at another time, just let me know. These conferences are student-led. If you would like to conference without your student, please contact me and we’ll schedule an adults-only meeting.
Clothing Exchange – We will be hosting a clothing exchange in the library during conferences, November 1-2. Students are invited to bring clothes they have outgrown and/or no longer wear (with parent permission, of course). Families will be able to “shop” before or after conference(s).
“The Orchestra Sings”: On Tuesday, November 13, our class will attend a special youth concert at the Hult Center sponsored by the Eugene Symphony. I’ve attached an information packet/study guide. Watch for more trip details in the next Update!
Bars/Photos – We are asking ALL families to send a cereal or protein bar labeled with your student’s name, and a family photo (for encouragement & comfort), in a ziploc bag. These will go into our emergency kits. The bars will be eaten in the event of an emergency or at field day, whichever comes first! Please send the bag (with the bar and photo) into the classroom. Thanks.
