Field Trip to Lone Pine Farm: Our annual pumpkin patch trip is scheduled for this Friday, Oct. 21. Parent vehicles will transport students. We’ll eat lunch at the farm. Please bring a disposable lunch. Rain gear (boots and jackets) may be necessary. Pumpkins will stay at school for a while so we can wash, weigh and measure them.
*We are searching for a ‘Hanging Scale’ to weigh our pumpkins on Monday. If you have one we could borrow, please let me know.
Sharing theme (week of 10/24): A mask, scarf or funny hat
International Children’s Day: Friday, Oct. 28, students in Cheri’s Class are invited to celebrate International Children’s Day by dressing in traditional clothing from another country or culture. The costumes can be anything from a ‘French beret’ or ‘Mexican sombrero’ to something more elaborate. As well as making flags and maps, each child will have an opportunity to research and share information about their country or culture. Afterwards we’ll snack on some international foods in the classroom. The snacks need to be commercially prepared/packaged or prepared at school. If you can help with snack donations or set up, please let us know.
Cafeteria Lunches: Please be sure to order and pay for your child’s lunch in advance!
This Saurday is the day! Please join us for Ridgeline’s capital campaign kick-off, scheduled for this Saturday, October 22, at the Southtowne Shoppes in South Eugene. Just a quick note to let you know: our class will present a Bhangra dance performance at the Ridgeline Capital Campaign kick-off party this Saturday, Oct. 22, at Southtowne Shoppes (28th and Oak). This is a fun and free gathering and everyone is invited! This event begins at 11:00AM and ends at 3:00PM. Students from Cheri's class will perform at 12:30. Please bring your student to the outdoor stage area by 12:15. Questions? Call 541-681-9662; send a note or e-mail email@example.com

Montessori Tidbit: The Montessori Math Curriculum has several “strands” or components: Base 10 Operations, Memorization, Linear Counting, Fractions, Geometry and Word Problems. In addition to these, we teach Probability, Estimating, Rounding and Measurement. The Montessori Math materials help young children understand math concepts and processes in a concrete and visual way, an approach that makes sense developmentally. As children mature and begin to learn abstractly, these early experiences provide a strong foundation for the higher level knowledge that follows.
