CHINESE CELEBRATION: We are so grateful to Helen Liu for spending time with our students teaching calligraphy and showing them how to make Chinese dumplings. Our New Year’s Celebration was awesome! Special thanks to Azusa for making delicious dumpling-filling and cooking. A student confided to me that the dipping sauce was the best part!

VALENTINE’S DAY: Valentine’s Day is Thursday, February 14. If your child would like to bring cards for their classmates, please bring them in Thursday morning. The children will weave special, heart-shaped paper envelopes to hold their cards. A list of the student names is attached so the kids can label cards. Please remember: distributing cards is optional. However, if your child chooses to bring valentine cards, please be sure there is one for every student.

PAJAMA DAY : We finished reading Charlotte’s Web and plan to watch the movie at school Friday, February 15. Students are invited to wear pajamas, slippers and robes. A lap-sized stuffie can join the fun.J Kids will eat popcorn and write about their stuffie. Please be sure PJs are warm and appropriate for school.

ASIAN CELEBRATION 2019!  The students practice Bhangra dance, an Indian harvest dance,  every Thursday morning thanks to SatPavan Khalsa, Ridgeline parent and dance instructor. Our class will perform during this year’s Asian Celebration, held at the Lane Events Center. The students’ Bhangra performance is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 17 at 4:30 on the Main Stage, right after the Taiko Drummers! Please arrive by 4:00 and check in with Azusa or Cheri behind the main stage. Girls are  encouraged to wear colorful clothing. Boys are asked to wear jeans and a t-shirt. We’ll have a colorful sash and headband for them to wear. Admission for this 2-day event is $6.00 per person (12 & over) however, a list of our students was submitted to the performance registration table and one adult from the family will be admitted free! Consider coming early in the day and enjoy the incredible variety of foods, displays and performances! Visit the website for complete information: http://asiancelebration.org/

100 DAY CELEBRATION: Wednesday, February 20, we’ll celebrate 100 days of school. Children can bring 100 small objects to glue onto a 100 square paper grid. In past years kids have glued beans, popcorn and other seeds, cotton balls, macaroni, stickers etc… Use your imagination! We will write, count, add, subtract, multiply and divide 100! Please help (if necessary) your child count 100 items, put it in a container or bag and bring to school on Wednesday. If you have questions, send a note or email cheri.spies@ridgeline.org.

PASTA DINNER: Ridgeline’s annual Pasta Dinner is coming up on Friday, February 22nd, 5-7 p.m. Enjoy a home cooked pasta dinner with red sauce or pesto, bread with garlic butter, and green salad. Visit with other Ridgeline families and bring your Direct Donation Drive (DDD) donation. The Pasta Dinner is the kick-off for the month long DDD, Ridgeline’s largest fundraiser of the year.

Thanks, Cheri & Azusa
