Students will travel with teachers and parent supervisors on LTD bus. Parents that would like to join us at House of Chen for lunch will pay $8.00. Send an email/note if you’d like more information regarding this option. A permission form is attached.

VALENTINE’S DAY & PAJAMA DAY: Valentine’s Day is Friday, February 14. If your child would like to bring cards for their classmates, please bring them in Friday morning. The children will weave special, heart-shaped paper envelopes to hold their cards. A list of the student names is attached so the kids can label cards. Please remember: distributing cards is optional. However, if your child chooses to bring valentine cards, please be sure there is one for every student. Students are also invited to wear pajamas, slippers and robes. A lap-sized stuffie can join the fun. Kids will eat popcorn and write about their stuffies. Please be sure PJs are warm and appropriate for school.

ASIAN CELEBRATION 2020! Every Thursday morning our students practice Bhangra dance, an Indian harvest dance, thanks to SatPavan Khalsa, Ridgeline parent & dance instructor. Our class will perform during this year’s Asian Celebration, held at the Lane Events Center. The students’ Bhangra performance is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 16 at 3:10 on the Main Stage! Please arrive by 2:30 & check in with Azusa or Cheri behind the main stage. Girls are encouraged to wear colorful clothing. Boys are asked to wear their burgundy Ridgeline T-shirt Boys will also have a colorful sash and headband. Admission for this 2-day event is $6.00 per person (12+) however, a list of our students was submitted to the performance registration table and one adult per family will be admitted free! Consider coming early in the day and enjoy the incredible variety of foods, displays & performances! Visit website for complete schedule & information https://asiancelebration.org/

SIBLING ENROLLMENT 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR: Siblings of students who are currently enrolled and will remain enrolled in Ridgeline in the coming year receive enrollment priority so long as an application for the sibling is received prior to the application deadline. If space is unavailable, students with sibling-level priority will be the first group selected by an equitable lottery process for placement on the waiting list. In order to qualify for sibling preference, you must complete the online enrollment application for any incoming sibling by January 31.

RIDGELINE FAMILY GAME NIGHT ON FEBRUARY 21 - All Ridgeline families are invited to join us for this allage community event. There will be all sorts of games to play, and friends with whom to play them! For those coming straight from work or tired after a long week, there will be food trucks serving food, coffee, and hot chocolate! Our Family Game Night will also serve as the formal kick-off event for our annual month-long Direct Donation Drive (also known as the DDD. From February 21 - March 20, while we work together towards our DDD fundraising goal, we will celebrate and talk about the many important programs, materials, and spaces that your financial contributions provide here at Ridgeline. If you haven't already made your annual donation, please consider doing so at Game Night (via cash, check or credit card) and help us get a head start on our DDD goal!

INTENT TO RETURN IN MARCH: Every year we ask our current families what their enrollment plans are for the upcoming school year. This year the intent to return online form will be available starting March 16th. This is how you retain your student’s spot at Ridgeline. TALENT SHOW: The Talent Show was so much fun to watch. Ridgeline students are amazing!

POLAR REGIONS: So far, we have taken a look at general similarities and differences between the Arctic and Antarctic. One important difference is a geological one: the Arctic is a sea of ice surrounded by water while Antarctica is land surrounded by water. In February we’ll learn about animals of the Polar regions. If you have items/books that support these studies please consider sharing. Our culminating project will be a diorama made with a cardboard shoebox. Since storage space in our classroom is limited, be on the lookout for a smallish box. We’ll ask you send the boxes to school in February.

BIRTHDAYS: We love seeing photos and hearing about each child’s life. If you would like to schedule a school birthday celebration, please contact Cheri in advance. Also, if your student missed their birthday or has a summer birthday please consider a ‘half- or third- or anytime-birthday’ celebration at school. Let me know! Send an email or a note to school. For a full calendar of Ridgeline events visit http://www.ridgeline.org/calendar Thank you, Cheri & Azusa
