Sharing theme (week of 10/31): A kitchen Tool

International Children’s Day: Friday, Oct. 28, students in Cheri’s Class are invited to celebrate International Children’s Day by dressing in traditional clothing from another country or culture. The costumes can be anything from a ‘French beret’ or ‘Mexican sombrero’ to something more elaborate. As well as making flags and maps, each child will have an opportunity to research and share information about their country or culture. Afterwards we’ll snack on some international foods in the classroom. The snacks need to be commercially prepared/packaged or prepared at school. If you can help with snack donations or set up, please let us know.

Cafeteria Lunches: Please be sure to order and pay for your child’s lunch in advance!

Success! Last Saturday’s Kick off event was a great success! It was wonderful to see so many students join in the dancing and singing. The classroom baskets were amazing. Thanks to everyone, especially the volunteers that helped put it all together.

Family Conferences are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, (10/31, 11/1). Please sign up for a time slot in the office. If times listed are not convenient and you’d like to schedule a meeting at another time send a note or e-mail

ShelterCare Pumpkins – Ridgeline’s classrooms have participated in a fundraiser for ShelterCare by painting pumpkins. This week our students painted 31 pumpkins! ShelterCare has a sponsor who will donate $5 to them for every decorated pumpkin. The pumpkins along with a Ridgeline banner will be on display this Saturday, October 29 at Kesey Square (Broadway and Willamette). Stop by and see our student’s designs! There will be an entire day of events. For the schedule go to the ShelterCare website:

Eugene Symphony Youth Concert: Our class will attend “Recipe for Music”, an elementary youth concert at the Hult Center on Tuesday, November 15, from 12:30 - 1:15 PM. We’ll travel by LTD and are in need of volunteers supervisors. Watch for a permission form and more information in the next update. Cost will be $5.50 per student and scholarships are available.
