This week
The past few weeks we learned about the Phoenicians, and a bit about the Turks, and the cycles of climate change, particularly in Europe. Did you know that in the last ice age the famous Matterhorn was up to its neck in ice? Scientists say only the familiar top portion of the mountain would have been visible. It was so cold that many of the northern oceans froze, but it takes more than snow to create an ice age. The increasingly large white landscape reflects the solar heat of the sun back into space, which continues the extreme cold cycle.
Next week

In the coming weeks we will prepare for our final presentations about Asia. This time we will be studying the nations of the Middle East and South East Asia. I would like to have the presentations during the week of May 12th.

Additionally, third years are taking the state assessments. Please help them be in top form by ensuring good sleep patterns and meals. These things affect attitude and a good attitude can make the testing process easier.

Finally, as we finish our last presentations on the places and people of Asia, we will look at the philosophies and religions of Asia. We will cover Hinduism, Taoism, Confucianism, Buddhism, and more. If you are familiar with any of these and would like to share your insight with the class, please let me know.
