This week…
I would like to thank all those who purchased books for our classroom at the Barnes and Noble Book Fair. We have many new and timely books to increase our learning about Native Americans and early America.

This week we learned about some of the natural functions of earth geology (volcanoes, continental plates, earthquakes, and the layers of the earth). We also learned about the water cycle and we will be revisiting this in later lessons. We are working on ‘responsibility’, as part of our Peaceful Character studies.

Next week and beyond…
Next week we will prepare some Seminole pumpkin bread to sample. This is traditional bread, also known as fry bread. The Seminoles of the Southeast add pumpkin to their version of this recipe. It is always a big hit with the class. In geography we will look at the mountain ranges of the U.S., discuss the water cycle in further detail (possibly building a terrarium), and finally look at the role of erosion as part of our functional geography lesson.

Presentations are on the 14-16th of December. If your student needs help at school or needs materials, let me know ASAP rather than later. I will attach the presentation schedule to this email.
