We finished our presentations this week, and then chose new Indian nations to research. The new research list is included at the end of this update. I plan on presenting the Plains Indians nations/tribes the week of December 3rd. We have begun looking into the lives and culture of the plains Indians already, and it is much different from the NE and SE Indians.
Our two fieldtrips were a big success. Interesting and informative, the time spent outside the class on these trips was worth the effort. I would like to thank all the volunteers who came and kept the students safe and on task. We had to turn some parents away as our space was limited, but I appreciate the desire to help.
Next week and beyond…
As part of our America studies we will take a close look at Alaska, Canada, and Greenland. We will discover how the older inhabitants of these areas lived in the sometimes-harsh climate, and how the natural resources there are used today.
Our Stone Soup celebration will be on Wednesday and all students are invited to bring herbs or vegetables to use in the community soup pot. No mushrooms please due to allergies. Please see the eNews for more information.
There will be no school on Thursday and Friday.
