This week…
This week we had a nice discussion on the eras of the earth. Fascinating stuff, and it’s easy to see why one era ended and another began as we see significant changes in the status quo. For example, gaining a respectable atmosphere is pretty significant. So too, is the almost complete extinction of the dinosaurs. We are currently in the Neozoic era (new-life). So far the eras seem to be getting shorter and shorter. Lets hope we can reverse the trend.

During the week we also talked about the cardinal directions, the difficulty of making something curved appear flat (maps), and the Clock of Eras. Some students chose to take this extension work home and others put it in their cultural folders.

It was nice to see so many students coming in with completed work packets (DML and spelling). I know it can be difficult for them and you, but your efforts and support will make a big difference in the education of your child.

Next week and beyond…
Next week we will discuss the 3rd Great Lesson. This lesson is about the Coming of Humans. Along with this come extension lessons such as the Notation of Time, Fundamental Needs of Humans, Latitude and Longitude, and America before Columbus. The latter lesson a precursor and warm-up for our studies in North America.

Of course, we also have our visit to the Science factory on Thursday to support our studies about the universe. No school on Friday.

Hope you have a great weekend.
