This week…
We had a wonderful trip to the Hult Center to see and hear Peter and the Wolf. We mostly had the chance to see the Eugene Symphony play and hear different styles of music and how it can affect our moods. It culminated in the classical music we all associate with the story of Peter and the Wolf.

We were able to trace and then punch out the political boundaries of Africa and place it on our big window. It makes a very striking display. We also made prints of fish using rubber forms to reinforce the parts of the fish lesson we had last week. Finally, we learned about buoyancy and deciduous and evergreen trees. Fascinating!

Next week and beyond…
In the coming week I will attempt to fit in some science experiments that support the buoyancy lesson. These are always fun and I try to make sure they can be reproduced at home if the student so chooses. It’s not always possible, so we shall see what happens. We will also discuss types/shapes of fish and hopefully have a short walk near school to see differences between evergreens and deciduous trees. It’s pretty easy to identify those differences this time of year.
