This past week we have focused on finishing up the district benchmark assessments, and that is now done. We also began our study of the earth’s atmosphere. This is an amazing subject area and one that is full of contrasts. As part of our discussion we have and will continue to talk of global warming. Regardless of why it is occurring we are considering the current and possible future effects of a warming atmosphere. I try to be honest but not frightening in my portrayal of these events. This may be a good topic of discussion around your dinner table. This topic is a nice segue into our upcoming curriculum on ecology.
I have been giving daily reminders about the presentations, which are due next week.
Next week our work period will be largely taken up with presentations, but in the afternoon I expect to have a typical week. This means that reading volunteers will have the week offJ In addition to more discussions about the atmosphere, I’m excited to begin exploring ecology with the kids. We will be covering all kinds of things that should make them think hard about the effects of their choices as they go through life and try to be gentle to the earth.
