Ridgeline Montessori Middle School 8 December 2008

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Coming Week

This week will be the fifth week of Cycle Two. During this week, we spend the first two days doing the “Putting it all Together” activities for Social World, Natural World, and Personal World, as a way to tie our cycle’s work together and bring it to completion. Then on Wednesday and Thursday, students will take the Cycle Test. Also on the list this week is to complete the writing projects for “The Mentor Author Project”. Students will also take the cycle tests for math and vocabulary. Remind your student to get adequate sleep and eat well, so they will be ready for each day! For literature, students get to choose their novel for the next two weeks.

Field Trips We have a number of field trips set up for our Immersion Week next week. Please look for and sign permission slips and return them promptly. See the calendar below for more details.

Poetry With a Purpose

Middle School students have set up an evening performance event for Tuesday, December 16th at Cosmic Pizza. Anyone can sign up for a 5 minute time slot to share a poem, reading or song. Even if you are not planning to perform, please come and support your fellow Ridgeliners and enjoy some pizza. The event will also be a fundraiser for River of Words, an organization that connects students to their watersheds through poetry and art.

Thanks! Thanks to everyone who attended the nutrition committee meeting last week. We have some very motivated people who are willing to work to make the school’s lunch program better for all of us. If you have some time, energy, or expertise to share around this issue, please contact Jennifer Loghry!

Electives If you have a talent or skill to share with a group of 8 – 12 students, let us know and we will help you set up an elective. These happen on Fridays from 10 – 11:30 and we appreciate having a wide variety of offerings for the students.
