CHERI'S CLASS WEEKLY UPDATE DEC. 11, 2008

NUTCRACKER BALLET: The Eugene School of Ballet Youth Company will perform in the gym on Thursday, Dec. 11, 1:15-2:00. There will be mats for students to sit on. Families are welcome to attend.

SHARING: This week- A sign of Winter, Next week- A Poem, Song or Greeting Card

WINTER HOLIDAYS: Montessori classrooms usually approach holidays from a historical perspective. We learn about the origins, symbols and traditions of many different holidays. I'd like the children to hear about traditions celebrated by all our families. If you have materials or objects you'd like to share, please bring them in. If you'd like to come in and tell about your family tradition, cook a traditional food or create a craft with the class, please let me know. We'd love to have you!

JOY OF SHARING: During the week of Dec. 15-19, we invite families to participate in the third annual Joy of Sharing. All activities are optional and items can be brought to school even after the scheduled day.

Monday 12/15: bring food or toiletry items for food/gift baskets.

Tuesday 12/16: bring a picture drawn for a resident of Cascade Manor.

Wednesday 12/17: bring coins for the March of Dimes.

Thursday 12/18: make a card for someone in the hospital during the holidays

Friday 12/19: bring any of the items from Monday through Thursday

TEACHER INTERN FROM TAMAGAWA UNIVERSITY:

We welcome Natsumi Otsuka, a college student from Japan, who is participating in an exchange program between Tamagawa University and the University of Oregon. Natsumi will be with us until April. We look forward to learning more about Japanese language and culture from her. Parents, please feel free to stop by and meet her before or after school.
